Instead of deleting every GIF you come across (I saw a GIFset of a puppy catching a ball not long ago where 2 out of 6 of the GIFs were deleted and I highly doubt that dog was doing something sinister or NSFW), you ought to write up a disclaimer.
Make it so that it pops up whenever a new user registers, or after a month or so as a reminder to old users, that there will be NSFW material and such things that might be considered offensive on this site, and you cannot be held responsible for it. By clicking ‘Accept’ to the terms, it is no longer your issue if they stumble across something they deem inappropriate.
This sight has always been about free speech and people have had the ability to post and reblog whatever they want on their pages (whether it seems wrong in your eyes or not). I think there should be exceptions to this, obviously, for people making legitimate threats to hurt people or themselves.
I fully expect this to be ignored, but it would be nice if at least Yahoo would give acceptable reasons to the users who’s things they are deleting as to why they have done so because “This image has been removed for violating one or more of Tumblr’s Community Guidelines," really doesn’t cute it.
Something tells me Tumblr is going to lose a lot of it’s following because of these matters. Trying to make things better is going to end up driving away a lot of people.
Check out the #yahoo tag and you’ll see the majority of people are none too pleased about these changes. With good reason. This site was never meant for little children! If you want to censor things, find a way to figure out the ages of the blog runners and for anyone, I dunno …16 or younger, put up a block for anything inappropriate. Don’t ruin the site for everyone else!
I am probably just ranting to myself right now, so yeah .. I’mma’ stop. Carry on. xD
Yeah, that moment you realize if you ever did get with that one celebrity you’re drooling over, that you’d have to delete your Tumblr account…..and your FF.Net acct….and your DA acct…..actually,best just to get rid of your computer entirely.
